My name is Mary Hanrahan and I am based just outside Bath in Wiltshire in the UK.
I offer a welcoming, non-judgemental, safe and supportive space to help you explore your concerns and difficulties. We all have times in our lives when we feel a bit stuck and we may not even know why. Some difficulties may stem from childhood while others may come from a change in our circumstances such as a career move or a recent loss.
Being given a space to explore your situation can lead to a deeper understanding of what is happening for you and the opportunity to find the way through and move forward. It is important to find the right therapist; someone who can offer the correct help and support at that particular time in your life.
I am inspired by the strength and resilience people find to keep going, through the toughest of times and I believe, with the right support and a good therapeutic relationship, the healing journey for each and every one of us can be an amazing and rewarding experience.
I have worked as a Volunteer with Turning Point (IMPACT Swindon & Wiltshire Active Recovery Service), Dorothy House and as a Counsellor with Wiltshire MIND and Help! Counselling for 9 to 25 year olds.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and I am an Accredited Member of The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
There are many different types of therapy. I personally work within an integrative approach with its basis around Transactional Analysis, person-centred, psychodynamic and the Spiritual.
How long it takes very much depends on what you wish to achieve. Short term work is helpful in focusing on specific issues, longer term work enables us to work with more deep seated issues and concerns.
I offer both on-line and face-to-face therapy, the sessions are for one hour, meeting weekly, but these can be spaced out if weekly proves difficult but depending on what you wish to achieve.
